  1. Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer SPF 30 – Not only will this light weight moisturizer score points with your dermatologist for its broad spectrum SPF 30, but its matte finish  makes it the perfect base for under makeup.  It’s soy complex also soothes skin, removing redness and evening skin tone, so you might not even need makeup.
  2. Clinique Acne Solutions Clinical Healing Gel – Put Clinique’s Clinical Healing Gel on at the first sign of a blemish and it keeps it from getting worse.  If it’s too late for that, you can put it on the worst acne and it will reduce the redness and swelling and promote healing.  Best of all, the gel covers the blemish and provides a smooth base for applying makeup to cover it up.
  3. Revlon Expert Tweezer – A cosmetologist turned me on to the these Revlon tweezers and I was shocked that she didn’t use a more expensive, professional brand.  They have a precise, slanted grip that will grab even the tiniest, most stubborn hair.  And the best part is that they cost under $6.00.
  4. Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation – Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizers and foundations are always touted by fashion magazines as some of the best.  Her Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation lives up to its predecessor’s reputation.  It goes on flawlessly, feels like you’re wearing no makeup at all, and provides an extremely versatile amount of coverage.  You can mix a little in with your moisturizer for light coverage or dab it on blemishes or under eye circles as a full coverage concealer.
  5. Cover Girl Clump Crusher Water Resistant Mascara – Cover Girl’s Clump Crusher Mascara goes on cleanly the first time, without the need to repeatedly comb through lashes to remove clumps.  It leaves your lashes looking long and beautifully defined.  Best of all, it’s water resistant, which means it doesn’t run if it gets wet (as long as you don’t rub your eyes) but still washes away easily with just soap and water.
  6. MAC Velvet Eye Shadow in Vanilla – If you like products that are versatile, MAC’s Vanilla eye shadow is a matte off-white shadow that not only serves as a great base color, but also doubles as a concealer.  Swipe it under your eyes to erase dark circles or dab a little over a blemish to make it disappear.
  7. MAC Matte Bronzing Powder – If you have trouble mastering the application of blush, MAC’s Matte Bronzing Powder is far more forgiving replacement.  Applied anywhere on your cheeks (no matter how unskillfully), it will give you a subtle warm glow without unnatural sparkle or shine.
  8. MAC Eyeshadow Pro Palette – Each eye shadow color is magnetically attached to this palette, allowing you to easily replace an individual color when it runs out.  You can select from an endless array of colors and formulate the combination that works best for you (I prefer a base color, shimmery neutral, darker neutral for contouring, and a dark gray as an eyeliner).  Having all my eye makeup in one compact saves searching through drawers and makes it a cinch to pack for a trip.
  9. C.O. Bigelow Mentha Shimmer in Bare Mint – C.O. Biegelow’s Lip Shimmer in Bare Mint is the perfect combination of a moisturizing balm and shimmery pink lip gloss.  But the best part is that it’s mint flavored so you can simply reapply and skip the breath mints.  I always have one in my make up drawer, in my purse, and in the car.
  10. Bare Escentuals BareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation in Medium Beige – The perfect makeup for summer, a light dusting of BareMinerals powder provides enough coverage to even skin tone and eliminate shine, with the added benefit of sun protection.  It’s also a great substitute for translucent or pressed powder and perfect for quick touch ups.
